IMPORTANT UPDATE

Sep 30, 2025

We have received recent requests to fly the Union Jack at the Memorial. Initially, we believed the flagpole was under the landowner’s licence, but that was not the case.

As many of you know, our journey to build the Memorial has been long and complex. We’ve worked tirelessly to ensure its success, and we continue to hold full responsibility for its upkeep and integrity.

Throughout this process, there have been various versions of the site contract, including discussions around flag flying rights, some with restrictions, some without.

Please understand that the Memorial is a non-political space dedicated to remembrance, a permanent symbol of pride.

Given its location, the site presents a difficult environment with extreme weather and wind, so the Fellowship must take this into consideration when flying a flag. To that end, the Fellowship will fly a flag on significant dates only, thus ensuring any flags flown are properly maintained and in safe condition, which are managed by our dedicated volunteer team.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
